Vista D’Oro, Neck of the Woods, and Township 7. I’ll be back!
When I launched 30 Day Adventures one of the first people to come up to me with some ideas was Rebecca Bollwitt (aka Miss 604). Many of you have read her blog and I thought a great adventure would be to spend a day with her and see what it’s like to hang out with one of the best-known bloggers in Vancouver. So we chose to spend our day touring some wineries in Langley. Yes once again this Yaletown boy has left downtown Vancouver and ventured out to the burbs. Boy am I glad I did, what a fun day.
We visited 3 different wineries and enjoyed something special at each. Here begins the adventure…
We started at Vista D’Oro (means view of gold) and we were greeted by Lee and Patrick, proprietors. They treated us to a spectacular start of the day. Scones, preserves, wine tasting and a tour of the farm. Check out the photos. Some are my own but most of the best ones were taken by Rebecca.
As a special treat we were invited into the old dairy barn shown above where a family of Barn Owls live. We tried hard to get a pic and this is the best we could get but we saw three beautiful creatures and it brought Goosebumps to Lee as she thought there were only 2!
We said our goodbyes to Lee with a promise to visit again. Seriously, we both said we could have spent a weekend there. Hint hint Lee put in a B&B
Off we went to stop #2 Neck Of The Woods to see Trent and Sue.
One of the wines that Neck Of The Woods is known for is their Blanc de Noir Brut which is what we started with. How very civilized wouldn’t you say? Trent then gave us a quick tour of the vineyard and the production facilities where we were able to see that they were only a day away from bottling a new year of their sparkling.
Tour done it was time to taste some wines! Neck of the Woods has a fairly large tasting room suitable for a large crowd and they even have a nice tasting bar. One of their favourites is a line of chocolates made just for pairing with wines called Brix.
For our last stop of the day we visited Township 7. When friends Kristine and Maryanne of Urban Life Media heard we were in their hood they joined us for a glass of vino. What better place to join us than Township 7.
In talking with Cindy (Langley Wine Shop Mgr) it was clear that Township 7 is not just a winery but also an anchor in the community. They host multiple events each year ranging from Easter egg hunts, Father’s Day festivities, to a Calgary Stampede themed event (see video). We grabbed a glass of wine, headed to a picnic table and enjoyed sitting in the sun and shared some stories.
A fantastic day and only 1 hour out of the Downtown core. You can bet I will be going back. To help you experience a taste of what I enjoyed I’ve a give away for you courtesy of the wineries. I’ll be giving away a gift basket with a treat from each winery visited.
