I am 47 years old and I love Disney. Disney has been around for longer than I’ve been alive and much of my childhood was spent watching one Disney classic after another. I have many fond memories of family TV time watching The Wonderful World of Disney. So it should come as no surprise that while I am in Orlando, Florida I am spending a day at Disney World. It isn’t just for kids you know, it is for kids of all ages and I’m a big kid at heart. Disney World is a massive adventure though so to get through it and see what I want to see in one day will be a daunting task. That’s why I have three Disney World tips that should help any adventurer get the most out of their magical Disney adventure.

Disney World Tips

Disney World Tips #1 – Plan ahead. It sounds simple enough, but honestly, Disney World is four massive theme parks in one. There is Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Plus there are two water parks; Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. That is a lot of ground to cover so the best bet is

  1. figure out how much time you have
  2. pick the park or parks you most want to visit
  3. register for the My Disney Experience and download the App onto your smartphone.
  4. pick the attractions you most want to experience and book your FastPass+ appointment. This way you skip the lines and go straight to the front of the cue at your pre-selected time slot. You can even make dinner reservations.

Disney World Tips #2 – Skip the morning rush. In your excitement to cram as much Disney into your day as possible, you will discover thousands of others had the exact same idea. There will be a lineup for the car park shuttle, another to clear security and then another to purchase/validate your tickets. I made this mistake and spent over 30 minutes in lineups. Now if I had arrived at say 2 pm, I would have walked straight through to the ticket booth, bought my ticket and I would have been inside in under 5 minutes.

Disney World Tips #2 skip the morning lineups and go midday

Disney World is open into the evening so I suggest you relax in the morning when most of the day trippers will arrive and come midday and enjoy yourself.  If you have planned ahead of time you will be able to experience all the attractions you want and not have to waste time in the long morning or evening lineups.

Disney World Tips #3 – Park your car at the theme park you wish to end your Disney World day at. You can ride the Monorail from park to park so pick the one you want to end your magical adventure at and use the monorail to park hop.

I spent my entire Disney World day at Epcot. I explored Future World and the World Showcase at my leisure.

In fact, you could say I ate my way around the world. I had Funnel Cake, a pint of Lager in England, Sesame Chicken in China and

Disney World Tips #4Bonus Tip – Embrace the moment and have fun. In hindsight, I wish I had booked a character photo on the My Disney Experience. I can’t believe I went to Disney World and I don’t have a single photo with Snow White, Goofy or any of my other favourite photos to prove it.

I guess I will just have to return for another visit with my Disney World tips in mind.
