Come hungry and prepare to stand.

Portland has to be one of the friendliest cities I’ve ever been to and the food scene is as diverse as the world we live in. Just take a walk down the Alder St Food Carts area and you’ll see at least 10 different ethnic food choices from British fish & chips to Polish perogies to the ubiquitous Falafel stand. The food diversity in Portland is spectacular. I’ve stayed in touch with Lora from Third Wave Coffee Tours and invited her out to lunch one day and told her to pick the restaurant as long. Her choice was a new one for me and as luck would have it was Vietnamese cuisine, yummy. 30 Days In Portland checks out a “locals” favourite place to eat, Luc Lac Vietnamese Kitchen.

Luc Lac is located at 835 SW 2nd Ave between Yamhill and Taylor Streets. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but as we all know sometimes you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover… Once inside the front door I’m blown away, Luc Lac is packed and even more there is a wait list.

They have a great system that’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. First off you order your meal at the counter, this means if you are eating with someone you both have to be there. Once you’ve placed your order you wait, when a table is ready they will seat you. Which leads you to the third step, EAT. The good news while waiting to be seated is that if you order a drink you get that first so you can drink while you wait Smile That’s what Lora did.

We were seated pretty quickly actually and shortly after that our appetizer arrived, are you ready? Our appie is Cream Cheese filled Wontons with sweet & sour sauce, OMG they just melt in your mouth, nom nom nom. Next up our mains arrive. Lora ordered the Tofu Coconut Curry and I had the Grilled Pork Banh Mi.

An absolute feast for the taste buds this place is amazing and if I lived in Portland it would definitely become one of my regular places to eat at. Another reason to eat at Luc Lac is the staff, great service and I must say they are all hot! Sorry no pics to prove that point you’ll just have to trust me Smile

Thanks to Lora for suggesting Luc Lac and for joining me for lunch, it’s fun to make new friends in the cities I get to visit.

I want to thank my sponsors Roam Mobility and GM Canada for helping me make this series possible. Roam of course for their awesome product to help me stay connected at a reasonable price and to GM for providing me with a sweet ride to make the road trip in. I don’t know what I’ll be getting yet but I’m looking forward to exploring and test driving a brand new GM.
