Fine dining can be a magical experience for the true foodie. Beautiful locale, attentive servers and a meal that leaves you sharing it on Facebook for days. Well this weeks contest takes fine dining up a notch. Just a few blocks from my condo in Yaletown is the Moda Hotel, home to two of my favourite places, Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar & Cibo Trattoria. Many nights of “beverage” adventures start or end at Uva where Lauren Mote & her team will fix me up a fine craft cocktail but If I’m feeling Italian then I head next door to Cibo where Executive Chef Faizal Kassam transports me to rustic and rural Italy. If you think this contest is a trip to Italy you are almost right, it’s a fantastic Summer Tasting Menu for two prepared by Chef Faizal. Your body remains in Vancouver but your taste buds will think you’re dining in Italy on a fine summer evening.
You and a friend will sample true farm-to-table freshness at Cibo Trattoria with this summer tasting menu prepared by Executive Chef Faizal Kassam himself. All you have to do is show up and enjoy yourselves, this sounds like a great date night to me. Chances are you’ll be enjoying food that fits the 100 Mile Diet label including beef from the Campagna Farm in Abbotsford.

The menu will highlight one of its local producers, Campagna Farm.Located in Abbotsford, BC, Campagna Farm is a private, 280-acre farm owned by the restaurant itself and operated by Sandra and Leonardo Zambrano, a husband-and-wife team of veterinarians who purposefully and responsibly raise cattle for Cibo’s menu. Campagna’s herd is fed a proprietary blend of all-natural hay and grain as well as red wine for a minimum of 30 days, resulting in a product that marries the authentic flavour of beef with the trademark tenderness of veal.
