We have come to the end of the fourth annual 30 Days Of Kindness, and we are going out with a bang, a double bang actually. Two acts of kindness helping two completely different organizations. The first act of kindness is done by the developer Rize Alliance. A builder of homes, it is no surprise that they have chosen to help out a charity that works to build community within the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. The second act of kindness is by a local PR firm Dunn Thexton PR, and they’ve answered the call of a kitten rescue organization in need of some support. Who doesn’t want to spend time with friends and family over the holidays and who can say no to a sweet purring little kitten. Two cheers for kindness.

30 Days of Kindness 2015

Kind Act #1 – Rize Alliance dropped boxes of Godiva chocolate to Whole Way House for their upcoming holiday meal, as well as a cheque for $1000 to go towards the holiday meal celebration. DTES charitable organization Whole Way House does amazing things to connect the DTES community and provide people with community and family to prevent loneliness. During the holiday season, Whole Way House does a Christmas decorating day with music and hot chocolate, as well as a family Christmas dinner to bring people together around a table for a meal with presents and holiday celebration. The $1000 cheque dropped off by Rize Alliance team members Jessica Winters, and Martin Rahn will go a long way towards making the holiday spirits bright for residents of Avalon House.

Kind Act #2 – Dunn Thexton PR heard that Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue (VOKRA) was in need of an iPad for their medical team to use when they do their rounds, caring for all of the kittens and cats they help rescue and adopt into loving homes. The team dropped by VOKRA  with an iPad for the medical team. While there, they met the amazing volunteers and staff, toured the operations centre, and cuddled with the loving cats in their care. Rachel Thexton brought along her cat Elvis, a VOKRA cat she adopted from the organization three years ago. Dee De Los Santos and Rancy Zhang joined Rachel at VOKRA where the team was so grateful for the donated tablet!

Thanks for spreading a little cheer and kindness into the world. Remember it isn’t the big acts that you should focus on, it is simple and small acts of kindness that can be done every day by anyone that really make us a better and kinder world.

Happy Holidays and may you be shown a kindness when you least expect it.
