A San Diego Beer Tour Of Three Pioneer Craft Breweries

I am in the craft beer capital of California, and depending on who you ask the craft beer capital of the USA. Where am I? San Diego of course. It goes without saying that I have to book a San Diego beer tour and the company that will be guiding me on a Hoppy adventure is Brewery Tours OF San Diego. There are over 130 craft breweries in San Diego County so having a beer guide is a smart choice in my opinion. We will sit back relax and let our guide drive us to the breweries on our route. This tour visits three out of the five craft breweries that pioneered the craft beer scene in San Diego. Ballast Point, Karl Strauss, and Stone Brewing, we are coming for you on our San Diego beer tour!

First taster is at Ballast Point

Our tour begins where we meet our tour guide and board the tour bus at the Old Town Transit Center. We get our wristbands and we are off to our first stop Ballast Point. My favourite taste here was the Grapefruit Sculpin.

The next stop on our tour involves lunch and a beer flight of tasters at Karl Strauss. My favourite here is the Mosaic Session IPA.

After lunch, we head to Stone Brewing and their outdoor Beer Garden. It is massive and a great place to sample a few beers while we wander the property. We kept looking for shady spots as the sun was out in full force and a bit of shade was a welcome respite from the heat. What was my favourite here? Too many to choose from!

You are welcome to visit these and many more breweries on your own however someone will have to be the designated driver. I love this San Diego Beer tour because it takes all the work out of my hands. The breweries have been chosen, the driving is done for us and all the tasting is included in the price! You can even arrange for a private tour if you want a more in-depth tour or if you want to check out some of the smaller microbreweries. Either way, a San Diego beer tour must be on your list of things to do while you are in San Diego. My friend below had a great time.
