Only have one day in San Diego and want to Eat and Shop your heart out? Then you’ll have to make your way to Little Italy. This is not just my opinion, it is shared by very good friends of mine that call San Diego home. Every time I visit we always make a pilgrimage to Little Italy for lunch, dinner, and a little shopping. It is not just Italian cuisine either, there are great coffee shops, a Vegan restaurant, wine bars, and plenty of other options besides. Every Saturday Little Italy is also home to an amazing Farmer’s Market that stretches over two full city blocks. I think this may be the coolest, hippest neighborhood in San Diego. It is certainly my favorite!
Every time I visit Little Italy I start at my favorite coffee shop, Heartsleeves Coffee. A tour through Little Italy is not complete without a good espresso in my hand.
It just so happens that this visit was on a Saturday so before we began our restaurant tour we checked out the Farmer’s Market. Talk about busy, the Mercado as it is called is packed! Fresh bread, produce straight from the farm, and the wares of many talented artisans. It is fun to just hang out here.
See what I mean? So the next time you are in San Diego you must include at the very least one afternoon and evening in Little Italy. Park the car, grab an espresso, walk the streets, shop and then choose a restaurant that calls out to you and feast until you can barely move! Mange Mange!
Yes, those Tacos were as good as they look.
