Airport hotels are about quick in and out accessibility, the convenience factor. On the Island of Maui, the Courtyard Maui Kahului Airport Hotel offers that, but it also offers a comfortable basecamp from which to explore the entire Island. A couple of hours in any direction and you have a perfect day trip whether it is up to the peak of Haleakala for Sunrise, shopping in Lahaina, relaxing in Hana or surfing Hookipa. Each of those destinations is reachable in under 3 hours from the Courtyard Maui. Best of all the rooms are comfortable and a very reasonable price.
I have picked up a rental car for my week on Maui, but the Courtyard does offer a free airport Shuttle if you’d prefer that option. It is just a five-minute drive from Car rental lot to the hotel.
The Lobby is quite spacious, open and includes The Bistro where coffee/tea and light breakfast can be purchased. In the late afternoon and early evening, the menu switches over to more Adult options like Beer and Wine. You can even grab a drink and bring it back to your room.
After a quick check in I head straight up to my room on the 2nd floor. It is clean, well-appointed with all the amenities and perfectly chilled thanks to the air conditioner at the far end of the room.
Amenities include a full-length wardrobe and workstation perfect for a couple of hours of work I need to do each morning.
The bathroom is clean, spacious and laid out so that two people could easily get ready every morning. I’m a huge fan of showers vs bathtubs and love that this bathroom is complete with a large shower stall. The toilet also offers a privacy wall just in case you forget to close the door.
The best part of the hotel in my opinion is what I can see out my window, pool and hot tub. Even though I plan on hitting the Maui beaches during my stay, it is nice to have a relaxing soak in the hot tub before bedtime. I even spent a “Happy Hour” swimming with my friends in between adventures.
All in all, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my stay here at the Courtyard Maui. Inexpensive, comfortable and great amenities plus easy access to the entire Island. Not a bad choice of hotels if your Maui vacation includes a lot of Island exploring. Plus when it is time to fly home it is only a five-minute drive back to the airport.
Island exploring basecamp
Well appointed rooms, great rates, friendly staff and a location that is easily reached from the airport. A perfect hotel if you are planning on getting out and exploring the Island of Maui. I found the staff to be some of the friendliest and most helpful I've come across in two years.
