The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas Is Better Than A Home Away From Home

A good vacation equals relaxing, recharging and renewing your energy from the humdrum of everyday life. A great vacation exposes you to new cultures, fabulous food, exhilarating adventures and sometimes to luxury you don’t get at home. My recent stay at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas on Ka’anapali Beach definitely fits into the luxury category and it is certainly more luxurious than my current living arrangements. Newly opened this vacation resort offers all the comforts of home with a few perks you only get when you are on vacation in Maui. Tropical breezes, miles of sandy beaches and a pool big enough to fit two of my childhood home in. Your great Maui vacation starts right now.

Panorama view from the Westin Nanea

The above photo is a panorama view from the room I am calling home for three nights. Pretty spectacular wouldn’t you agree? I am a bit ahead of myself though, first I need to check in.

The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas is located on Ka’anapali North Beach. The property sits on 16 acres so you have lots of room to stretch out and relax. As I don’t plan on leaving the property much I valet my rental car and proceed directly to the lobby for check-in. It is expansive and open with a direct view to the centre courtyard, garden and pool.

As this is a vacation rental resort my SPG perks like a room upgrade don’t apply here, however, I am not worried. Every unit is a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom unit. As I am travelling with a friend we have a 2 bedroom unit. Words can’t describe the unit so how about a video walkthrough?

Pretty impressive wouldn’t you say? Every piece of furniture seems to have a USB plug so my phone will never run out of battery and the kitchen is complete enough that I could host a killer dinner party here. Of course, the real star of the suite is the bathroom and the view. The view, the view, the view. It is simply perfect.

After dropping our bags off and changing into some appropriate pool wear it is time to head back downstairs to try that pool out for myself. There is not an adults only section as I would have liked, but it is large enough that you can find a little space to call your own quite easily. If you are coming with kids you will love the sandy lagoon play area for them.

Breakfast lunch and dinner is served poolside at the Mauka Makai restaurant. I had one of the best Corned Beef Hash dishes I’ve had in ages one morning. There is also a Starbucks on site if you are craving it. Feel like BBQing? Don’t worry they have plenty of BBQ areas around the pool where you can grill a steak or burgers at your leisure. It really is like home, just better.

Breakfast at the Westin Nanea

As I am an early riser each day begins with a stroll along the incomparable Ka’anapali Beach. I don’t have it all to myself, but everyone is friendly and best of all it is already 24ºC out and it is only 7 am. If you are up for a little adventure the 7 am paddle with Ali’i Maui Outrigger Canoe is reserved for guests of the Westin Nanea only. What a great perk to be the first on the water.

Stroke stroke stroke

On our last day at the resort we are treated to a special perk, we have reserved one of the three poolside cabanas for the day. Our own waiter brings us water throughout the day, keeps us in clean towels and makes sure we have everything we need to stay happy. How can we not with a bar fridge we have stocked with Maui Brewing Beer, Maui Gold Pineapple from our previous tour and a flat screen TV that just happens to have Star Wars playing. It is a perfect last day in Maui.

Our flight wasn’t until 9 pm at night so having the cabana for the day ($150US) was a great way to enjoy ourselves without having to run around while leaving our luggage in the car. The Westin Nanea even has hospitality suites that they offer so we could shower and change before we left. A quick 30 minutes to clean up and change and we are ready to head to the airport.

Goodbye Ka’anapali you are my happy place and I can’t wait until I come back.
